EMPOWERING FOSTER YOUTHS

TO CREATE GENERATIONAL WEALTH

FROM
HOMELESSNESS
TO
HOME
OWNERSHIP

Our vision is to mitigate homelessness by creating thriving spaces for youths aging out of the foster system.

We collaborate with our partners to increase access to healthcare, healthy living, and vital income within a community of stable affordable housing.

Our micro homes at The Reverie will be approximately 150-250 square feet with a loft, full kitchen, and bathroom. These homes will be located in a safe and welcoming community setting to create the ideal space for sociability, comfort, and access. This innovative program structure is transformative to those moving through the challenges of homelessness.

In addition to access to stability and opportunities to thrive, a Reverie Micro Home will be "gifted" to the residents after 8 years and 4 months of continuous rental. This will be at no cost and will, for many, be the beginning of wealth building that can extend to their family. Along with building generational wealth, the resident will develop bonds with the surrounding neighborhoods that strengthen a sense of stability and confidence.

Not only does this program benefit the individual, but it also benefits the surrounding neighborhoods. Our goal is to create neighborhood stabilization with individual stabilization. While giving access to the residents of The Reverie, the community of Fruitdale will also benefit from access to currently unavailable resources. While the residents have their own health center, community center, and garden, Fruitdale will benefit from an on-site grocery store and public events.

THE CHALLENGE

➢  1 in 4 of America’s foster youth are homeless
within four years of leaving foster care.

➢  Less than 3% will earn a college degree.

➢  7 out of 10 girls will become pregnant before turning 21.

➢  Only half will have some form of gainful employment by 24.

GROWING UP WITHOUT A FOUNDATION

For many of us, turning 18 is a new adventure. We go to college or pursue a career with a family supporting us emotionally and financially. In our first 18 years, we build a foundation with a parent or parents guiding us through a very delicate and often dangerous transition into adulthood. However, for some, this foundation is not built properly, and a child becomes an adult with little guidance and support.

In Texas, over 1,200 young adults age out of the foster care system every year. Without adoptive families, these young people lack the safety and stability many other young adults take for granted.

The Youth/ Young Adult aging out of the foster system have an immense challenge to thrive and resources are currently limited to help them through from independence to mental and financial success.

THE PLAN

We are seeking $3.5 million to build the Reverie at Fruitdale. The total project includes 32 micro homes with a community center that provides health and workforce development resources.

The mission of the Reverie at Fruitdale micro homes project is to restore hope and dignity by offering opportunities for health, self-sufficiency, and home ownership to young adults. The focus is on young adults aging out of the foster care system.

This new residence will provide safe, dignified shelter and assist clients as they transition into more independent, permanent housing or home ownership within the community.
